State Conference was a success for GCHS DECA, with individual, team, and chapter awards and recognition! Several students now advance to National competition (ICDC) next month in Anaheim, CA.
First-place competitive finishes included Coleman Bryant, Automotive Services Marketing Series and Houston Brooks, Business Finance Series. Hayden Bradley, Amelia Hayes & Raylee Shepherd, Sales Project Team; Piper Mangan, Business Operations Research Event; Will Johnston and Connor Lee, Business Law & Ethics Team, took Second Place. In Third Place were Layla Lacefield & Gracie Mudd, Hospitality Services Team, with Tate Cain, Career Development in Fourth Place. Placing in the Top 8 of their categories were Landon Lowrey and Daniel Ratley, Innovation Plan; and Katie Morgan, Entrepreneurship Series. In addition, Emilee Hall was an Event Finalist in the Marketing Communications Series
Jillian Pierce and Maggie Shepherd were named DECA Diamond in the Rough recipients given to students who step outside their comfort zones to take on projects, show initiative, and are considered emerging leaders. As freshmen, Jillian and Maggie led the chapter’s Community Giving Project and “did an exceptional job with organizing and implementing it,” said advisor and Marketing teacher Brittany Gary.
The GCHS Chapter was recognized for the Largest Chapter Member Percentage Increase.
