GCS elementary schools showed up in a big way at the Regional Academic Team competition. The Wilkey Bulldogs took the Regional Championship and placed first in Quick Recall. Individual awards went to Blazen Chhor, 2nd Place, Math; Benson Fulkerson, 2nd Place, and Ross Logsdon, 4th Place, Language Arts; Kanton Burden, 3rd Place, Arts & Humanities, Aiyahna Williams, 2nd Place and Maci Williams, 3rd Place, Composition. Also joining in the victory were Emmit Abney and (not shown) Reid Basham.
Academic Team coaches and teachers from across the district - Adam Spinks, Julie Decker, and Kacie Blain - subbed in for Wilkey coaches Rhonda Collard and Katie Decker, both called out of town today. A true display of teamwork at its finest!
The Lawler Lions placed 2nd in Quick Recall with individual awards going to Bently Gary, 2nd in Math (tie), Mason Day, 2nd in Science, and Zoey Cumming 5th in Language Arts (tie).
In the 15-team Region field, Clarkson took 3rd Place in the Overall Final Standings. Individual awards were earned by Collin Kingrey, 4th and Tanner Tilford, 5th in Math; Jonah Williams, 1st place in Science; Jonah Williams 4th, Arts and Humanities; Lucy Smith, 1st, and Brooklyn Walters 4th in Composition.
Caneyville took 3rd Place in Future Problem Solving with Maya Clark taking 1st in Language Arts.
