HealthForce Kentucky and GCMS science classes are teaming up to give students hands-on experience with a variety of medical scenarios. The mobile lab hosts high-tech simulations, classrooms and labs, plus deep dives into anatomy and medical conditions, complete with pulse sensations and talking mannequins.

During their time in the lab, each grade concentrates on an area that relates to current classroom units. For 6th grade the focus is on population health in the immersion room, 7th grade is on body systems through the touchscreen Anatomage table, as 8th grade explores DNA strands. GCHS health science students are also volunteering their time and considerable knowledge during the visit.

HealthForce Kentucky is a partnership between Owensboro Health, nine colleges and universities, and school districts across 16 counties in Western Kentucky. Its goal is to inspire careers in health care by providing wider access to the highest levels of instruction, technology, and training.

The Center at HealthForce Kentucky is currently under construction in Owensboro. The 35,000-square-foot facility will house high-technology simulation labs, classrooms, and a medical lab. The Center will be available to all participating educational entities to provide the highest level of instruction to supplement their in-school programming.
