Have your family create a time capsule and fill it with memories from the past year. Everyone can write a letter to their future selves describing personal experiences. Open your time capsule in a year, and read the letters to see how much has changed. #GCMSOpportunity

Are April Fools’ Day pranks fun or mean? Have a family debate to help your teen practice making logical arguments. For a challenge, have everyone debate the opposite side. So if you think they’re fun, you would argue that they’re mean, and vice versa. #GCMSOpportunity

Suggest that your teen find examples of résumés online and practice writing one. Discuss what types of experience your child might use to land a first job. For example, volunteer work, babysitting jobs, mowing lawns, extracurricular activities, and leadership roles all count.
Congratulations to GCMS 8th grader Railey Mattingly, winner of the Area 3 Conservation Writing Contest. The annual event is sponsored locally by the Grayson County Conservation District, along with the KY Association of Conservation Districts and KY Farm Bureau.
Let your teen decorate a wall with a display of art and photographs to practice spatial reasoning, creativity, and planning. (Tip: Look for “gallery wall ideas” online.) Suggest arranging the pieces on the floor until they look “just right” before hanging them.
Railey Mattingly, an 8th grade student at GCMS, has been chosen as the 2020 Area 3 Winner of the Conservation Writing Contest. Railey’s essay was first chosen as the 2020 County Winner prior to advancing to the Area judging. Congratulations on your achievements. Railey!
