Suggest that your teen find examples of résumés online and practice writing one. Discuss what types of experience your child might use to land a first job. For example, volunteer work, babysitting jobs, mowing lawns, extracurricular activities, and leadership roles all count.
Congratulations to GCMS 8th grader Railey Mattingly, winner of the Area 3 Conservation Writing Contest. The annual event is sponsored locally by the Grayson County Conservation District, along with the KY Association of Conservation Districts and KY Farm Bureau.
Let your teen decorate a wall with a display of art and photographs to practice spatial reasoning, creativity, and planning. (Tip: Look for “gallery wall ideas” online.) Suggest arranging the pieces on the floor until they look “just right” before hanging them.
