Famous battles and landmarks in 3D cap off Civil War studies in Ms. Thomas’ 8th grade GCMS social studies class. Students were rightfully proud of some pretty impressive handiwork!

GCHS history teacher Brent Weedman has been selected as the KY nominee for the Harris History Teacher Award. One of only 57 nominees nationwide, two winners will be announced on National History Day, June 14. Congratulations and good luck, Mr. Weedman!


Clarkson Career Day brought alums, parents, community and business leaders in to help students explore their options.

GCMS 7th grader Colton Glenn recently learned that he will receive state recognition for his ACT test scores. Glenn’s overall score of 21 included a 23 in reading and a 21 in math, meeting or exceeding ACT benchmarks. Colton will be formally recognized on May 23 during a special WKU ceremony in conjunction with the Duke University Talent Identification Program.


GCHS junior Cameron Harris will participate in the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts in Vocal Music. Violinist Austin Clark has been selected as an alternate in Instrumental Music. Selection is highly competitive with more than 1,700 students auditioning for only 256 spots in the program’s nine arts domains.



GCHS juniors, Josh Embry, Shanna McClung and Jonathan Nelson, have been selected to attend the prestigious Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program this summer. GSP is a residential program for outstanding Kentucky high school students who are rising seniors.


Congratulations to GCHS HOSA on a very strong showing at state. Nationals qualifiers include six first place finishes and two third place. Another six placed in the Top 5 of their category. Nationals will be held June 26 - 30 in Dallas. Good luck to all competitors!


Caneyville students in Ms. Embry's class become environmental scientists for the day with a hands-on lesson from TVA.

The GCMS Future Problem Solving Team made yet another successful appearance at State Governor's Cup, placing in the Top 10. Congratulations to team members and coaches on a strong finish to the season!


Congratulations GCHS senior art student Jacob Blair on a winning submission to the KY Association of Counties calendar art competition. Out of hundreds of submissions statewide, his colored pencil and pen landscape was selected for the month of May.
In addition to the honor, Jacob received $100, presented by KACo Member Services Representative Jody Ledesma.

Last day of school for students will be Friday, May 25. GCHS graduation the following day, Saturday, May 26, 1 pm.
